Debbie Munden Selected for 2008 Outstanding Service Award John Jackson 2003 OSA winner Debbie at the State convention hearing her name. with Debbie the 2008 OSA winner. Debbie came to Puyallup Branch 1484 in 1984 from Pasco, Washington where she also worked as a Letter Carrier. Debbie has been an active Union member Letter Carrier for over 30 years and is well thought of by her peers. From day one she became very active as a union worker for her branch and the NALC. She is by far the most actively involved person in the Union here in Branch 1484. Without her leadership, the local union would not be nearly as effective. At a time when Branch 1484 was thinking about merging with another branch, because of the lack in member attendance at the branch meetings, it was Debbie who came to the rescue by setting the example of leadership. Debbie has held many offices in her branch, including services as Shop Steward, Vice President, and President. She currently holds the position of Vice President. Debbie has served on the branch local negotiation team longer than any other member of Branch 1484. Debbie also served on the State Executive Board from 1998 to 2002, and served admirably during her term as a State Officer. She has been an elected delegate to State and National Conventions for the past several years, bringing back vital information which our membership benefitted from. During both state and national conventions she has served on many committees. Debbie has used many, many hours of her annual leave to do work for branch 1484 and fellow Letter Carriers. She also has an excellent attendance record at Branch meetings over the past several years. With her knowledge of the National Contract, she serves as a complete package of knowledge for the branch. Debbie persistently works at getting new and old members involved in union meetings and other union activities. She’s been active in her branch efforts for MDA and as Chairperson of the NALC Food Drive. She also works as Chairperson of Branch 1484 Combined Federal Campaign, which benefits many. Debbie, a mom and grandmother, has always been there for her son, and being a single mom did all the things that a father normally does in raising a son. These activities included Boy Scout and Little League ball, and taking part in his field trips and visiting his classrooms. When her work would permit, Debbie would lend a hand at school with the children. Debbie has also taken on the task of grandmother, but she still finds the time to devote many hours to branch 1484 for the good of the NALC. |
