Teressa Lenkey

Teressa started her Letter Carrier career in October 2005, after a 15 year career as a Sales Representative. Stationed at the Everett Annex, it was her goal to come to Puyallup as soon as possible. A long year later her goal was realized. It was at the Annex that she witnessed daily the verbal prodding of a fellow PTF carrier that management felt was to slow; he was unable to defend himself and it was then that she decided to become actively involved in the Union. Due to the horrendous commute she was unable to attend meetings, so she started writing for the local branch 791 newsletter. She found her avenue to vent her frustrations with management and was able to gain the respect of fellow co-workers, one of which came up to her after reading her PTF sound-off and commented on her bravery in openly voicing her opinion. Teressa strongly believes in the Union and what it stands for.

Shortly after being transferred to the Puyallup Station, she asked about the branch newsletter and was told there was no newsletter in publication. "Every union member should be in the loop of communication and the only way to really do that is through the form of a newsletter". So she took on the challenge of reviving the branch newsletter and with the help of several branch members has been able to put forth a publication.

Teressa has resided in the Puyallup/Sumner area since 1985, having come from the state of Utah. She instantly fell in love with the area and couldn't imagine residing anywhere else, she made Washington her home. Divorcing shortly after moving here, she focused on raising her two children, Holly and Tim; both are young adults and active Union members in the local Carpenters and Laborer Unions. Teressa remarried in 1999 and remains happily married and stays active in the union and is looking forward to a long fulfilling if not challenging career.
